We had an oustanding turn out for the Diwali Celebrations this year. Amongst the guests there was Deputy Mayor of L.B. of Havering Cllr. Melvin Wallace with his wife Joan Wallace, Mayor of London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Cllr. Nirmal Singh Gill with his wife Mohinder Kaur Gill, Rt. Hon. Member of Parliament Angela Watkinson of Upminster Constituency and Chief Inspector of Police Services John Harlow. Local business firm namely Tilda Rice International also sponsored the function by donating the raffle prizes. It was the 12th annual Diwali celebration by the association and one of the most successful events so far. As many talented performers staged their various acts such as singers, dhol, dance, group dance, poetry and the famous Panjabi Gidha (ladies dance). All the three guest (both the mayors and MP) deliver the message to the community that events like this brings community close, good for community cohesion and good introduction to other culture.
